Ever since the beginning of Movement Control Order (MCO), our St Joseph’s Private School Concert Band’s activities, rehearsals and camps have been cancelled, but it did not stop their passion and love of music performance. Over the course of the MCO, our Concert Band students have recorded a few pieces of music from the comfort of their homes and they were subsequently released as music videos on their Facebook Page. They have collaborated with other bands as well to release music performances honouring the frontliners in this COVID-19 pandemic.
On 1 July 2020, the Concert Band released a past video performance of their Percussion Ensemble performance, a piece titled “WALTZ FOR A RAINY DAY”, from the suite “THREE SCENES FROM THE DESERT” by Alex Stopa. Our students’ performance was very well received and multiple internationally acclaimed percussion artists and even the composer himself sent congratulatory messages. Below are some of the comments and messages received for our Percussion Ensemble’s performance.
