On the 17th of December 2019, St Joseph’s Private School will be hosting a Scholarship Outreach Programme. Open to all students keen to further their education both within and outside Malaysia, the workshop aims to inform students about the potentially life-changing opportunities awaiting them beyond St Joseph’s Private School. This programme will be held free-of-charge, and open to all students from Form 1 to Form 5 in Kuching.
The workshop aims to answer three questions:
- What scholarship opportunities are out there for me?
- What is the application process for these scholarships?
- What can I do to ensure my success when applying for these scholarships, be it during the application or the interview phase?
The programme will be conducted by ex-students from schools around Kuching, including St Joseph’s Private School, SMK St Teresa, and SMK Kuching High, who had successfully applied for various scholarships. Having gone through the scholarship searching and application process, as well as the decision-paralysis and unfamiliarity that come along with it, we hope that our experiences will put us in a better place to guide our juniors and help them find opportunities as good as, or even better than the ones we found for ourselves.
Among the scholarships we will be advising on are:
- Taylor’s University Merit Scholarship and Distinction Awards
- ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship
- Shell Malaysia Scholarship Programme
- PETRONAS Education Sponsorship Programme (PESP)
- Yayasan Tenaga Nasional Scholarship
- Yayasan Khazanah Scholarship
- Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) Scholarship
- Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) Global Scholarship Award
- JPA Scholarship
- UK Scholarships (King’s College London)
The programme will consist of staggered talks by scholarship holders, as well as group discussions so that questions can be addressed individually.
All students and parents are highly encouraged to attend this workshop, to gain a better understanding about the scholarship opportunities out there. It is also a good opportunity to connect with ex-students who are very willing to support your application!
