Unsullied by the Chinese Music Club

Despite the limitations faced throughout the 5-months long MCO/RMCO, the Chinese Music Club of St Joseph’s Private School managed to carry out all sorts of activities online to keep the club members actively engaged. This is so that their musical talents and leadership skills continue to be developed.

Since MCO first started, the Chinese Music Club has not stopped music practice and professional music lessons by teachers from Shang Yin Music Centre via Google Classroom. Besides that, the senior students led the practice according to the sections via Google Meet and Zoom breakout groups.

They performed from home the song “Unsullied” by Mao Buyi from the original soundtrack of “Heavy Sweetness, Ash-like Frost/Ashes of Love.”

This song was chosen in conjunction with the theme of this year’s Rhythm & Colour concert in school, “Our Earth Our Home.” Through this song, the students want to stay pure-hearted and clean in a polluted world.

However due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the concert cannot go ahead as planned. Instead, the students performed this song from home for general viewing and enjoyment.

On top of that, the club is working hard on other virtual orchestra projects. This would require music practice and some video editing of music pieces by students from home. Well done to the students and the teacher-in-charge, Ms Goh Mey Lih.
